A Reminder In The Storm

The recent devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene serves as a poignant reminder of how frail life is. It makes me think of the days of Noah. When people were eating and drinking, marrying and being given into marriage without a clue as to what lay ahead, little did those people know that they’d lose their lives in a matter of days. That could have been any one of us. It still could be any one of us caught in a similar whirlwind of change, with our lives altered irrevocably in an instant. Whether it is today, next month, or decades from now, the fact is, we’re all going to die one day. Let’s not take a single day for granted. Let’s not waste a moment more on trivial things. Let’s thank the Lord for all the days He’s given us. Let’s love our family and bless our friends. Let’s give what we can and help where it’s needed. Let’s never forget that each day is a gift.
Prayer: Father in Heaven, only You know when we’ll leave this Earth. Teach us to number our days, so that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Remind us how precious life is. And lead us always to You. In the holy name of Your son, Jesus, Amen.
Action: Once we die, we have no more opportunity to give our souls to the Lord. Now is the time. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, admitting your sin and asking for His forgiveness, please do so today. Tomorrow just may be too late.
